2 days' police remand for robbery case accused

Two alleged accused wanted in a robbery and assault case in Chandigarh were today remanded in police custody for two days by a local court.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Pooja Andhotra sent them to police remand against five days sought by the prosecution.
Both Gurcharan Singh alais Rinku of Channuawala village and Khushwinder Singh alias Sukhpal of Sangatpura village were injured in an encounter on Moga by-pass road of June 25 night in which two gangsters Sukhdev Singh and Inderpreet Singh Gora were killed by Chandigarh Police.
After getting injured in the encounter, the two were hospitalised here and on their discharge from hospital yesterday, they they were taken into custody by police.
In the encounter, two constables of Chandigarh Police also got bullet injuries, police said.
Punjab government had last week set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to inquire into the matter, officials said.
