The teachers claimed that police used water cannons to stop them from moving ahead to gherao the assembly which is in session.
The protesting contractual teachers, however, found support from former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi who termed their demand as "legitimate".
Manjhi, who has been critical of the state government, said that only God can help the state where teachers are beaten up.
