Two ethnic Indian men have been jailed by a Malaysian court for the murder of a Nigerian student who they claimed had cheated them.
High Court judge Noor Azian Shaari sentenced security guards V Ganesan, 29, and T Kumar, also 29, to one-year and seven-year jail terms for causing the death of 27-year-old Nwabudike Emmanuel Chukwuma.
They pleaded guilty to committing the offence in April last year.
The judge in her ruling said Ganesan and Kumar did not have the right to take the victim's life even if he had cheated them.
She ordered the two to begin serving their terms from the date of their arrest last year.
Kumar apparently attacked the victim by punching him several times on his body, face and head.
When the victim fell to the ground, Kumar dragged him out to the road and began kicking him.
Ganesan had also punched and kicked the victim twice, the New Straits Times reported.
