The victim Shima Zarefard had arranged a stay for the two French men in her flat in south-east Delhi's Greater Kailash for two months when she was on a holiday but the duo allegedly vanished without paying the rent and stealing her belongings.
Maximilien Sottile and Khalid Abdaim, both 23-years-old, were apprehended from the airport when they went there to board a flight to Kathmandu, Ajay Chaudhury, Additional Commissioner of Police (South-East), said.
A case under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 427 (mischief causing damage) has been registered against them on August 27.
Zarefard, who is in India since 2009 to learn Bharatanatyam from danseuese Geeta Chandran's school, had arranged their stay in her flat and on return from holdiday on August 26 found the house and furnitures damaged and many articles missing.
After a search in the house, Zarefard claimed in the complaint, the only document the victim could find was an e-ticket to Bangkok on August 25 and return on September nine. However, a check with the airline brought to light that it was fake.
Instead, the airline told Zarefard that they have a confirmed flight ticket to Kathmandu for August 31 and return on September seven. "They (also) did not respect our agreement to pay the rent of the house, electricity and internet bills," she claimed. (more)
