The court turned down the plea of prosecution to award death penalty to Delhi residents Raj Kumar, 34, and Mohammed Majid, 21, saying they do not deserve the extreme punishment and there are chances of their reformation.
It also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of them.
"The convicts are young persons having no criminal antecedents and there are chances of their reformation. Therefore, I am of the opinion that convicts do not deserve the extreme penalty of death sentence and ends of justice will meet if accused are convicted for life imprisonment.
