2 Gurgaon lab sealed, 1 showcaused for dengue test over-charge

The Haryana Health Department has issued showcause notices to three private laboratories hospitals in Gurgaon and sealed two of them over allegations that they were over-charging for dengue tests.
Health Minister Anil Vij today said here showcause notices have been issued to the three labs attached with hospitals, which were allegedly charging more than Rs 600 fixed by the state government for dengue tests at private laboratories.
Two laboratories have been sealed and their records seized and an inquiry has also been ordered to into it, he added.
He said the Sub-divisional Magistrate, along with officers of the Health Department, visited the laboratory of a private hospital recently as a decoy patient and was asked to pay Rs 1,725.
"He was given a receipt for the same amount, on the basis of which the the laboratory was sealed and its records seized," Vij said.
The Minister said orders have been issued to civil surgeons across the state to conduct raids and maintain strict vigil over such laboratories in their respective districts.

He said the health department had earlier fixed rate of Rs 600 for dengue test and had also issued orders to laboratories to display the rate list for tests.
He said orders have been issued to teams of health department to conduct raids in this regard across the state.
Vij also urged people to lodge a complaint with the local civil surgeon in case they are over-charged.
The Haryana government was setting up advanced laboratories at Gurgaon, Bhiwani, Hansi and Panchkula, he added.
