2 held for auto lifting

Two men have been arrested for allegedly being part of being a gang of auto-lifters, police said.
Three stolen cars and eight motorcycles have been recovered with the arrest of the duo identified as Sajid and Amar. 11 cases of motor vehicle theft have been worked out, police said.
"In order to prevent auto-lifting activities of criminals, those previously involved in auto lifting, were kept under close watch. Our team noticed one Tata Sumo, parked near Chhattarpur Metro Station and found lock of the vehicle tampered with.
"On suspicion, engine and chassis numbers of the vehicle were checked and it was found to be stolen," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) B S Jaiswal.
The police team assumed that the robbers might have parked the vehicle after stealing it and would certainly come to take it back. Accordingly, a trap was laid to apprehend the culprits.
Later, two persons reached the stolen Tata Sumo and when they tried to take it away, they were apprehended. They were identified as Sajid and Amar, both residents of Fatehpur Beri area of New Delhi, he said.

During interrogation, both the accused disclosed the name of their associate as Sahid, who is brother of Amar and was previously involved in more than 25 cases of auto lifting.
Police said Sajid disclosed that the Tata Sumo was stolen by Amar and his brother Sahid had parked the same near Chhatarpur Metro Station so that it can be shifted to a safer place at a convenient time.
Efforts are on to arrest Sahid, police said.
