allegedly cheating people by posing as CBI and Sales Tax officials, police said today.
Kishan Lal (62) and Rajender Kumar (40), whom police had declared as bad character, were apprehended from near Rohini West Metro station yesterday on a tip-off, DCP (Crime) Sanjay Kumar Singh said.
Lal is allegedly involved in 24 cases while Rajender is involved in nine cases.
"They used to posed as CBI or Sales Tax Officers to cheat traders. We got a tip-off about them coming to Rohini. With this arrests, we have solved three cases," Singh said.
They were allegedly involved in cheating of a trader from Jammu and Kashmir Manzoor Ahmad Dar near Shish Ganj Gurudwara in Chandni Chowk on May 9. Their associate Ramesh Kumar, who was allegedly involved in 29 cheating cases, was arrested that day itself.
"Lal and Kumar along with Ramesh had allegedly stopped the trader posing as CBI Officers and asked him to get his luggage to be searched. They took him to Meena Bazar in an auto and took out Rs 25,000 from his pocket and started checking the notes.

"After checking of notes, they handed over him a yellow envelope and told him that his currency notes are original. Dar checked the envelope and found a bunch of newspaper cutting in the size of currency notes in the envelope instead of currency notes. On this, he started shouting for help and the trio fled. One of them, Kumar, was later arrested," a senior police official said.
In February this year, the trio had allegedly cheated a resident of Banda in UP in the similar way, while in March last year, they cheated a person near Novelty Cinema Hall by posing as Sales Tax Officers.
Lal's father ran a milk dairy in Amritsar while his son is now running a transport business. "He left his house about 30 years ago and came to Delhi. He started working in private firms but was unable to keep his job.
"He used to cheat on the pretext of checking the luggage by posing himself as CBI/Sale Tax Officer along with his associates Rajender and Ramesh. He is previously involved in 24 criminal cases including of robbery, cheating and impersonation," Jain said.
Rajender came to Delhi in his early childhood and started living in Balli Maran but later shifted to Sultanpuri.
