Two persons who allegedly stole smartphones and related accessories worth around Rs 58 lakh from a truck carrying a consignment for a popular e-retailer have been arrested, police said today.
The accused arrested so far have been identified as Sunil Kumar, 23, and Shravan Kumar, 24, while their accomplice Lallan Yadav is still at large, said DCP (South) Prem Nath.
"On November 28, police received an information of truck jacking near TERI University in Vasant Kunj at around 2 am. The complainant Vikram told police that he worked as a vendor of Flipkart Company and used to transport the company's consignment from different places in Delhi to IGI airport cargo," said the officer.
"The complainant told police that his truck was loaded with company's electronic goods worth Rs 58 lakh from Mahipalpur office and was being driven by Lallan Yadav to airport. But it did not reach there and when he searched location of the vehicle on GPS, it was found near TERI University roundabout."
Vikram immediately reached the spot and found Lallan and the electronics goods consignment missing and contacted police.
A case was registered in this connection under Section 408 of the IPC at Vasant Kunj North police station and probe initiated, he said.
Intensive hunt and search by police led to arrest of Sunil Kumar, 23, and Shravan Kumar,24, from Khijrabad village in New Friends Colony area.
During interrogation, the duo -- who are drivers by profession -- admitted their role in misappropriation of the goods along with Lallan, who is yet to be arrested.
They told police that they were neihbours of Lallan in Mahipalpur village where they lived in a rented house.
As per the plan, they had reached near TERI University in a truck where Lallan had brought his truck loaded with goods including mobile phones, power banks, earphones, link routers and other electronic items which were shifted in their truck.
While Sunil and Shravan escaped after shifting goods, Lallan drove away the truck with electronic goods to Khihrabad near Jakir Nagar and parked it at a roadside from where it has been recovered, he said.
Further investigation is on to nab absconding Lallan Yadav ,he added.
