Two men have been arrested for planning to kill an elderly couple and rob them in central Delhi, the police said today.

Ombir Singh and Jagdish Kumar were nabbed on June 12, on the basis of a tip-off, they said.

The police claimed that the accused also wanted to kill the witness of a murder case who had refused to change his statement.

During investigation, it was found that one Pawan, currently lodged in Rohini Jail in connection with a double murder in Rajendra Nagar, had worked as a driver for four to five years in central Delhi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) P S Kushwah said.

While working as a driver, he had spotted a financially well-off elderly couple. In jail, he came in contact with Ombir Singh, Paramjeet and Golu, and shared the information with them, the officer said.

After Ombir Singh was released from jail on parole, Pawan deployed his brother-in- law Jagdish Kumar, who was working as a driver in the same area to find out the present position of the elderly couple, he said.
