The two accused, identified as Vikram and Sandeep, would impose as agents of nationalised and private sector banks and falsely promise the victims that they will pursue their case with the banks to open its branch at their premises, police said.
We had received a complaint of Gandhi colony resident Sunita stating that Vikram and Sandeep approached her and assured that they can facilitate in opening of Axis bank branch at her premises, SHO Murad Nagar Subodh Saxena said.
During the interrogation the duo, Vikram and Sandeep, have confessed of duping several persons to the tune of 1 crore and 8 lakh rupees, police said.
An FIR has been registered under section 420, 467,468 IPC and the duo has been sent to jail, they added.
