Ritu Kumari and Satvinderjeet Kaur are part of 37 students selected by the Community College initiative programme sponsored by the United States, A J Philip, President of Deepalaya, told reporters here today.
These students did their schooling from Deepalaya, a charity operational since 1979 running schools in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. It has sent a total of 17 students to the US in the past four years.
"The students who went abroad in the past became role models for these two students and I hope that the number of students to get international experience will increase every year," Philip said.
"The students are selected for this programme by scrutiny which includes essay writing and other exams", said Sikha Paul, principal of the Deepalaya School in Kalkaji Extension.
