2 jail officials suspended after escape of prisoners in UP

The Jailor and Deputy Jailor of the district prison here were today suspended for dereliction of duty after four prisoners escaped by climbing the boundary wall of the prison the help of a bed sheet.
Jailor Uday Pratap Singh and Deputy Jailor Altaf Ansari have been suspended for dereliction of duty, Additional Director General (ADG), Prisons, Devendra Chauhan said after inspecting the jail.
Four inmates - Jaswant accused of kidnapping, Brijmohan accused of rape and loot, Dhyan Singh accused of rape, loot and murder and convict Munna - scaled the boundary wall with the help of bed sheet and escaped on January 8.

On suspension of Singh, who was on leave when the prisoners escaped, Chauhan said, the way they had escaped showed that they were planning it and thus it was his responsibility.
