Two suspected militants were killed today when the explosives they were carrying in an auto rickshaw detonated abruptly just outside a mosque in Karachi, the financial capital of Pakistan.
"Initial investigations indicate they had explosives in the rickshaw which detonated abruptly in Qasba colony of Orangi town," Senior Superintendent of Police Sajid Sadozai told PTI.
"As soon as they got into the rickshaw with one of them driving it, it blew up killing both of them and injuring four bystanders," Sadozai said.
He said the duo had planned to leave the explosives in the vehicle and park it somewhere.
"We also found live grenades near the blast site and the bomb disposal squad found out the explosives weighed around four to five kilograms," he added.
Sadozai said intelligence reports suggested terrorists were planning to plant bombs in some more rickshaws and the police was carrying out its operations.
