An auto rickshaw driver and one of his passengers were killed in a crash in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri on Tuesday, police said.
Sukhvinder Singh was carrying four people in his rickshaw when it rammed into a stationary vehicle at around 4.30 am near Bhalswa flyover on Outer Ring road, they said.
The occupants were rescued from the three-wheeler which was reduced to a mangled heap of metal and taken to a nearby hospital, police said.
While Singh and one of the passengers identified as Rahul-- both residents of Jahangirpuri-- were declared brought dead, the condition of the other occupants is said to be stable, they said.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the auto driver fell asleep while driving and lost control of the vehicle, they said.
The medical report of the driver has confirmed that he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of incident, they added.
