Two men with 12 quintals of poppy straw worth Rs 10 crore in the street market have been arrested from Outer Ring Road near Burari flyover, police said today.
The accused have been identified as Bhim Giri (43), and Rajvinder Singh (20), both residents of Patiala in Punjab.
The poppy straw was brought from the naxalite-affected areas of Jharkhand and was to be supplied to Punjab, Pramod Singh Kushwah, deputy commissioner of police (special cell), said.
On the basis of a tip-off, a trap was laid near the flyover where Giri and Singh were arrested with 60 white plastic bags containing poppy straw, the officer said.
