The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta police today arrested a secretary and assistant sub inspector (ASI) of Krishi Upaj Mandi in Manawar town of Dhar district while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a trader.
Superintendent of Police Dilip Soni said Lokayukta police caught the secretary of Manawar's Krishi Upaj Mandi, Tarachand Badole red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.
Similarly, the police also arrested Mandi's ASI Rakesh Hirve along with Badole while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000, Soni said.
He said that both the mandi employees were arrested while taking the bribe at their office from a trader.
Soni said the trader had complained that Badole and Hirve had asked for the bribe in exchange of giving concession in determining the tax and imposing a penalty of lesser amount on the annual return of 2016-17 filed by him.
He said that the Lokayukta police team laid a trap and caught them.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Badole and Hirve.
