Two Naxal cadres, expert at making improvised explosive devices (IEDs), were arrested from a village in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, police said today.
Koyana Baghel (36) and Sukhram Baghel (37) were apprehended from their native Bukrawada village under Kukanar police station limits of Sukma last night, Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range, SRP Kalluri told PTI.
Acting on inputs that the duo was planning to hold a meeting with villagers at their native place, a joint squad of CRPF and local police was mobilised towards the spot, located around 450 kms from the state capital, he said.
On sensing the security forces surrounding the region, the ultras tried to escape from the spot, but were nabbed after a short chase, he said.
Working as janmilitia members in Katekalyan Area Committee of the banned outfit, the duo was tasked with preparing and planting the IEDs in the restive region to harm the security forces, he said, adding that they were carrying a reward of Rs 2,000 each on their head.
As the IED experts, the two were involved in several Naxal ambush to target security forces in the South Bastar forests, he said.
