2 persons, juvenile held for robbery, snatching in Delhi

Two persons have been arrested and a juvenile apprehended for their alleged involvement in many cases of robbery and snatching in Delhi, police said today.
Rahul alias Gaurav Dutt and Mohammad Habib Khan along with the juvenile were fond of stunt biking and active in areas of east Delhi, Shahdara and Ghaziabad, said Nupur Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara).
They used the booty for modifying their bikes, leading a lavish lifestyle including going to pubs, bars and impressing their girlfriends, she said.
On January 23, Mohammad Umed of Matiya Mahal complained that at about 5.15 PM, when he was going to Geeta Colony after his correspondence classes, two persons came on a Bajaj Pulsar bike and snatched his mobile phone, the officer said.

A team of led by inspector Pawan Kumar, SHO Geeta Colony under the supervision of Khushal Pal Singh, ACP (Gandhi Nagar) was constituted. They got a tip-off that they will be coming to South Ganesh Nagar. A trap was laid and Rahul and the juvenile were apprehended. Khan was nabbed from Joshi Colony.
"During interrogation, it was found that Rahul is the leader of the gang that used to operate in and around Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, Shahdara, Krishna Nagar, Geeta Colony, Farsh Bazar, central Delhi and south Delhi. They are involved in two cases of snatching and robberies. Khan used to sell the snatched property to one Rashid and Danish," said Prasad.

With the arrest of the two, a case of Defence Colony in which a chef and his wife were robbed was also solved.

"Rakesh Rai, a chef at ITC hotel, filed a complaint that when he, his wife and nephew were going in an auto last month, three boys came on a black Pulsar and snatched the purse of his wife who fell on the road and got injured. The purse contained some credit cards, identity cards, wallets, one mobile phone and Rs 3,000," said Prasad.
They were also found involved in another case where Jairam Sahu (49), a superintendent Geologist in ONGC, was robbed.

He told police that on December 21, when he was near the ITO flyover red light, two persons snatched his bag containing an I-pad, 64 GB pen drive, PAN card, debit and credit cards, 1 TB hard disk containing 975 GB data of State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur and some other documents.
Since he had to catch a flight that day, he reported about the incident to police on January 4, police added.
