Rahul alias Gaurav Dutt and Mohammad Habib Khan along with the juvenile were fond of stunt biking and active in areas of east Delhi, Shahdara and Ghaziabad, said Nupur Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara).
They used the booty for modifying their bikes, leading a lavish lifestyle including going to pubs, bars and impressing their girlfriends, she said.
On January 23, Mohammad Umed of Matiya Mahal complained that at about 5.15 PM, when he was going to Geeta Colony after his correspondence classes, two persons came on a Bajaj Pulsar bike and snatched his mobile phone, the officer said.
"During interrogation, it was found that Rahul is the leader of the gang that used to operate in and around Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, Shahdara, Krishna Nagar, Geeta Colony, Farsh Bazar, central Delhi and south Delhi. They are involved in two cases of snatching and robberies. Khan used to sell the snatched property to one Rashid and Danish," said Prasad.

"Rakesh Rai, a chef at ITC hotel, filed a complaint that when he, his wife and nephew were going in an auto last month, three boys came on a black Pulsar and snatched the purse of his wife who fell on the road and got injured. The purse contained some credit cards, identity cards, wallets, one mobile phone and Rs 3,000," said Prasad.
They were also found involved in another case where Jairam Sahu (49), a superintendent Geologist in ONGC, was robbed.
Since he had to catch a flight that day, he reported about the incident to police on January 4, police added.
