Two assistant commercial tax officers were arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 here Wednesday, an officer said.

The two accused were identified as Pritam Kumar Sharma and Bhagwan Sahay Meena, posted at Ramganjmandi town in Kota district, said Additional Superintendent of Police Dr Prerana Shekhawat.

The duo had earlier demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 from Vikas Kumar Garg, a proprietor of a firm in Ramganjmandi town, she said, adding that the bribe amount was later settled at Rs 20,000.

On August 31, Garg had lodged a complaint against the duo.

Based on the complaint, a trap was laid and Pritam Kumar Sharma was caught red-handed by sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau while accepting the bribe, she said.

Bhagwan Sahay Meena was also arrested for his involvement in the bribery case, Shekhawat added.
