Two assailants opened fire on the duo, Amit (19) and Farooq (17), when they were running in the morning, killing them on the spot. Both Amit and Farooq, residents of Village Got, were sports enthusiasts, police said.
Police suspected that the attack could be the fallout of personal rivalry, Katghar police station Inspector Dharmendra Singh said.
Based on an FIR filed by Amit's father, police have lodged a case against two persons -- Amit and Surendra. Both the accused, hailing from the same village, were absconding.
