Sleuths of Goa's Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) today arrested two senior transport department officials for allegedly accepting bribe to clear trucks loaded with sponge iron.
"The trap was laid this afternoon when Assistant Director of Transport Uday Gawas and Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector Waman Umraskar were found accepting Rs 90,000 from a company to clear their trucks which are loaded with sponge iron," said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bousette Silva.
"The complaint was lodged by the company itself as they did not want to pay the bribe," he said.
Police said the duo were being interrogated till late evening.
