Of the two, Dinesh Podiyami (24) was a member of Malangir Area Committee and carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head. The woman ultra, identified as Soni alias Sukki, was carrying reward of Rs 2 lakh.
"The duo turned themselves in before senior police officials, saying they were frustrated with violent activities of the banned outfit and at the same time they got impressed withthe surrenderpolicy of the state government," Dantewada Additional Superintendent of Gorakhnath Baghel told PTI.
According to Baghel, Podiyami was a prominent cadre of Dantewada-Sukma region and allegedly involved in several deadly Maoist attacks, includingblowing up an anti-landmine vehicle on Cholnar-Kirandul road in April last year.
Five police personnel were killed and eight others were injured in the attack.
"Sukki has been ensuring medical help to the injured and ill cadres since 2010 after taking medical training from the members of the 'Doctor Squad' of the Maoists," Baghel said.
A consolation amount of Rs 10,000 was given to them, the officer said, adding that the duo will be provided facilities under thesurrenderpolicy of the state government.
