Two undertrials today escaped from police custody at Jamjodhpur in Jamnagar district, but were caught within hours from an farm on the outskirts of the town.
The duo -- Kantiyo Panda and Munim Sakaria -- from Machhaliya village in Zabua tehsil in Madhya Pradesh, had been arrested in a robbery case. They were lodged in Junagadh jail.
"After taking their custody from a Junagadh jail, we took them to Jamjodhpur police station (in Jamnagar district) this morning, where the duo sought permission from the police station in-charge to let them go to answer nature's call. However, when the policeman refused to let them go, they pushed him aside and ran away," Police Sub Inspector (PSI) J N Jesalia said.
Following their escape, local police stations were informed and a nakabandi was enforced in the district.
"With the help of local crime branch (LCB), an intense search operation was carried out to nab the duo and within hours we caught them from a field, where they were hiding," he added.
