Two workers from Odisha died of asphyxiation after inhaling some 'poisonous' gas on entering an inspection chamber of a newly laid water supply line here today, officials said.
The deceased -- Vijay (25) and Santosh (28) -- were employed in a private firm.
They fell unconscious as soon as they stepped into the recently built chamber near the Uppal cricket stadium to remove the centering material used in the construction work.
Co-workers brought the two out, but they were dead by then, Assistant Commissioner of Police G Sundeep told PTI.
Managing Director of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board M Dana Kishore announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
He also ordered an enquiry into the incident, the officials added.
