Two workers of Imran Khan's Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaf were today killed and seven others, including a child, injured during their clash with ruling PML-N activists here ahead of the local body elections.
The clash between the two groups broke out over setting up an election office at a particular place of the area.
The first phase of the elections will be held on October 31 in Punjab province after about eight years.
As the Pakistan Muslim League (N) government was 'reluctant' to devolve the power at the grass-roots, the Supreme Court on the petitions filed by opposition parties ordered the government to hold the local body elections across the country this year.
While electioneering in old Lahore was in full swing, the rival groups had an armed clash in the early hours of today that resulted in the killing of two PTI workers and seven others, including a child, were injured.
According to the FIR, seven PML-N workers opened indiscriminate fire on the PTI workers present in their election camp.
