A shopkeeper was allegedly beaten to death by two youths in southwest Delhi's Kapashera area, police said today, adding that the accused have been arrested.
Victim Faguni Mehto (37), who used to run a shop at Surya Vihar in Kapashera, was allegedly beaten to death by Mannu Malik (20) and Vijender Singh (19) around 12.10 last night, said DCP (southwest) Surender Kumar.
The victim's nephew, Bittu, who was sleeping in the shop, heard a loud noise and came out to see that his maternal uncle was being beaten up by the accused.
As he raised an alarm, the accused fled. Bittu rushed his uncle to a hospital in an autorickshaw where the doctors declared him dead.
A murder case was registered at Kapashera police station and a preliminary investigation carried out which revealed that the accused were employed under a transporter, said the officer.
The accused, who were subsequently arrested by the police, confessed to their involvement in the crime under the influence of alcohol, said the DCP, adding that they also had a fight with the victim a few days ago.
