"We had picked them for questioning during which nothing suspicious was found. The questioning is almost done and we will soon release them," Special Commissioner (Special Cell) S N Shrivastava said.
The detention of the two youths by the Special Cell of Delhi Police had sparked off protests in the area as locals and some activists staged a demonstration outside Jamia Nagar police station terming the detention as "illegal".
Their detention came following the arrest of top Indian Mujahideen terrorist Zia Ur Rehman alias Waqas, a Pakistani national wanted in connection with several bombings, and his three associates from Rajasthan.
Police picked the two youths from the ground floor of the house which was rented by a friend of the engineering student who is currently out of town.
According to police sources, the final-year engineering student, who is a resident of Dhanbad in Jharkhand, had arrived in the national capital yesterday and was to leave for Saudi Arabia this morning to perform Umrah in Mecca.
