20 bus passengers injured in accident on Yamuna Expressway

At least 20 persons suffered minor injuries when the state bus in which they were travelling was hit by a speeding tanker on the Yamuna Expressway in Jewar area today.
The accident happened at around 2 am today when the Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus enroute to Kanpur from Delhi's Anand Vihar carrying about 40 passengers had halted at Jewar interchange on the Yamuna Expressway, a police officer said.
As the bus proceeded from the interchange, the oil tanker hit the bus from behind, injuring at least 20 persons in the bus. A fire extinguisher in the bus hit the bus driver, who fell unconscious, the officer said.
The injured were rushed to a medical centre at Jewar toll plaza by Yamuna Expressway rescue team and were discharged after dressing of wounds. Another bus was arranged and the passengers resumed their journey, he said.
On complaint of bus driver Brijesh, an FIR was lodged against the tanker driver who was absconding, in-charge Jewar police station Samarjit Singh said.
