20 more modern boats to rescue fishermen stranded in mid sea

The Coastal Marine Security Group today said it would acquire an additional 20 state-of-the-art boats to rescue fishermen stranded in mid sea.
"The Coastal Security group already has 38 modern high speed boats and would acquire 20 more boats," CMSG Additional Director General of Police Shylendrababu said here today.
Speaking after the culmination of the 'Friends of Fishermen' an awakening motorcycle rally here, he said CMSG also planned to construct 30 more stations in coastal areas.
It would also acquire vehicles that could be used both on sea and land. For security reasons, all fishermen had been requested to paint their boats a uniform colour, he said.
The ADGP also said that CMSG had rescued 151 fishermen last year and retrieved 39 fishing boats
The rally was inaugurated at Chennai on February 2 to mark the 38th Annual day function of the Coast Guard.

The 14-member team arrived here after traversing Puducherry, Cuddalore, Rameswaram and Tuticorin, a total distance of 1,072 km.
The Inspector General of Eastern region of Indian Coast Guard SathyaPrakash Sharma presided.
The objective of the rally was to create awareness among fishermen about the International Maritime Boundary Line, use of only permitted fishing net and, dos and don'ts to be observed while fishing.
