Nearly 200 recruits of the 107th course attained the status of combat soldiers when they passed out from the prestigious The Brigade of The Guards Regimental Centre, at Kamptee near here.
A vibrant and immaculate ceremonial parade was presented by the young guardsmen, who now are set forth to serve the nation, ready and well-trained for frontline duties. The motivated and spirited young guardsmen earned their status after the challenging and strenuous training of 34 weeks.
Keeping with the traditions, they were administered the oath of allegiance and devotion to duty by the Adjutant.
Pride was writ large on their faces as they crossed the symbolic 'Antim Pagh' in slow march to the lilting Auld Lang Syne tune of the military band yesterday.
It was a proud moment for the kith and kin of the recruits who had come from far flung areas to witness the eventful ceremony in which their wards participated.
Medals were presented to outstanding guardsmen in various disciplines of training.
The coveted Overall Best Recruit Trophy was awarded to Recruit Sonu of Tipu Training Company.
Brigadier M K Mago, Principal Director, HQ Strategic Forces Command, reviewed the parade, according to a release from PRO (Defence), Wing Commander Samir S Gangakhedkar.
