2016: 20% murders in Delhi due to old enmity

Every one in five murders reported in Delhi in 2016 resulted out of old enmity between the victim and the killer, according to a report released today.
Last year, 528 cases of murder were registered and 77.46 per cent of them were solved, the annual report of Delhi Police said.
Majority of the murders committed in 2016 were due to old enmity, while only 7.77 per cent of the murders were crime-related, it said.
According to Delhi Police, analysis of motives of murders revealed that 19.32 per cent of the murders were due to old enmity, while 16.29 per cent were due to sudden provocation or trivial issues.
Almost 12.69 per cent murders were related to sexual indulgence, 8.90 per cent due to differences between family members and 8.33 per cent murders were a result of disputes over property and money while only 7.77 per cent were crime-related.
