21-year-old girl student commits suicide

Upset over her dream to study abroad not coming to fruition, a 21-year-old student allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at her house here.
Police said Haripriya, who had completed B.Tech in a private college and got a placement in a private firm, wanted to continue her study and do M.Tech abroad.
However, her father, Rajendran reportedly told her that being their only daughter, they did not want live without her and asked her to join the firm yesterday, police said.
Dejected over this, Haripriya allegedly consumed poison in her house at Masakalipalayam last night and fell unconscious.
Seeing this, her mother also allegedly consumed poison.

Rajendran, who returned home some time later, found both his wife and daughter lying unconscious and rushed them to a private hospital.
However, Haripriya died on way to hospital, while her mother was still in a critical condition, police added.
