"We have succeeded in vaccinating 40.05 per cent more children in the same period (April-September) last year. It's an achievement that has been met in our past six months old government," state Health Minister Ahmad Hasan told PTI.
The total number of children vaccinated till September this year stood to about 22 lakh, which showed that immunisation was 40.05 per cent more.
This figure was of routine vaccination, including that of measle and other vaccines, he said adding that besides vaccination of JE in eastern UP was not included in it.
As soon as the SP government was formed in the state, the emphasis was laid on providing better health care to the people and due to effective monitoring of the vaccination sessions launched from time to time this could be achieved, the minister said.
For effective monitoring of vaccination on the ground, immunisation officers were told to send their reports to Director General, Family Welfare, who forwarded it to Principal Secretary, Health on weekends, he said.
"It ensured achieving of the target of at least 98 per cent vaccination sessions," Hasan said adding that in the days to come the department would initiate more measures in Health sector.
