Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dharmendra Singh Yadav ordered registration of FIR against the 22 police personnel under Prevention of Corruption Act today.
According to a police communique, several complaints were received at the police headquarters by the district police chief about extortion of money by the policemen at various places.
Complaints against 11 Head Constables Promoted (HCP), five constables and two home guards of traffic police were also received. They used to take money for allowing buses, tempos and taxis to ply on roads without permits.
During the probe it was found that a complainant who had visited Shahid Nagar police post in Sahibabad area for lodging a missing report was forced to pay bribe by a sub-inspector and three constables.
On the recommendation of the inquiry officer all the 22 policemen have been booked.
