The first phase of the water conservation mission, aimed at making villages self-reliant in water supplies, will be completed by June 30, Commissioner of Watershed Development and Soil Conservation department Anurag Bharadwaj said.
"The work of building watersheds is in full swing and over 23 per cent of it has been completed. The first phase of the campaign is going to be completed by June 30," he said.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Arun Chaturvedi said, "We have stressed on the participation of the public (in the project) and have received a good response."
"Several parts of the country are facing drought. In such a situation, optimum use of every single drop of water is necessary and the project in Rajasthan is a good step in this direction," he added.
Water structures will be built in 3000 villages of the state in the first phase of the water conservation project.
