"Farmers have completedsowingofRabicropson around 4.25 lakh hectaresofland which is 23 per cent of the proposed targetof18.51 lakh hectares in the state," Agrawal said in a statement.
The target isto sow food graincrops, pulses, oilseeds and vegetables on nearly 18.51 lakh hectares in the state in the Rabi season 2017-18, he added.
"The process of sowing is gaining momentum with the harvesting of crops cultivated in the recent kharif season is in its concluding phase," the minister said.
The department is gearing up to sow pulses, including gram, arhar, lentils and others, on 9.26 lakh hectares.

Besides, the department has proposed sowing of oilseed cropson 3.14 lakh hectares intheRabiseason.
So farsowingofalsi, mustard, toriya, til, sunflower kusum, peanut, and other oilseedcropson around 1 lakh hectares have been completed, the minister added.
Likewise, vegetables will be cultivated on 1.95 lakh hectares while the target isofplanting sugarcane on 50,000 hectare area in this season, he added.
