Iranian border forces today allegedly fired at least 24 rockets that landed near a Frontier Corps post in Pakistan's restive Balochistan province.
Over two dozen rockets were fired from the Iranian side, which landed in an area 60 km south east of Mashkel tehsil of Washuk district, Balochistan, Frontier Corps spokesperson Khan Waseh said.
FC troops fired mortar rounds and LGM fire in retaliation. No casualties have been reported, he said.
The incident came after militants killed at least 25 Shia pilgrims returning from Iran.
The pilgrims had stopped at two hotels in the border area of Taftan when the militants attacked them with guns and bombs.
Wasey said the rockets fired by Iranian forces had landed two kilometres west of a FC post.
Earlier today, Iran closed its border with Pakistan for an indefinite period following the attack in Taftan.
