25 kg poppy straw seized; 1 held

An alleged drug peddler was today arrested and 25 kg of poppy straw was seized from his possession in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, police said.
He was arrested during vehicle checking in Achabal, 60 km from here, a police spokesman said.
The accused was driving a private car, the search of which led to the seizure of 25 kg of poppy straw, he said.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against the arrested peddler, the spokesman added.
