25 killed as gunmen attack pub in Nigeria

As many as 25 people were killed when suspected Boko Haram gunmen attacked a pub in northern Nigeria's restive Borno state, security sources said today.
The attackers came to the pub in the city of Maiduguri during its peak hours yesterday and threw bombs and fired sporadically, killing 25 persons and leaving up to 30 others seriously injured, police said.
According to police, they came on motorbikes and escaped after the attack.
Recently, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in three states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe where terror groups are known to be active.
Nigerian army moved into the states and took over control of the camps of the groups and released women and children held captive there.
Boko Haram has been fighting to install an Islamic Caliphate in northern Nigeria since 2009.
