With the commissioning of these RO units, another five lakh litre of water per day will be added to the existing six lakh litre of potable water in the flood-hit Kashmir Valley.
The National Disaster Response Force said in a statement that to drain out stagnant water, two heavy duty pumps with a total capacity of 18,000 litre per minute have been made operational.
Four more heavy duty water draining pumps with a total capacity of 16,700 litre per minute have reached Srinagar and will be made operational soon.
Besides, 30 MT milk powder, 7,000 litre milk and 11.27 lakh water bottles and sachets have been airlifted, the statement said.
In addition, 2,000 tents, 82,240 blankets, 500 Mobile chargers, 3,450 solar lanterns and 1,000 kitchen sets have been sent for distribution in the Valley.
