25 students injured during protest over girl's suicide

At least 25 students were injured at Kartan police outpost here today when police resorted to lathicharge to disperse an agitating group protesting the suicide of a teenage girl allegedly due to eve-teasing.
Over 200 students, including girls, took out a march toward the outpost to protest against the death of the girl demanding action against the accused.
Police resorted to lathicharge after the students created ruckus at Kartan police outpost, injuring 25 students. Later the students indulged in vandalism and set fire to PAC truck.
A 16-year-old girl committed suicide in Kartan village on February 15 allegedly due to eve-teasing by a youth.

The father of the girl alleged that he had earlier registered a complaint about the eve-teasing of his daughter to the police outpost in-charge and SP Arvind Sen, but no action was taken due to which she committed suicide.
Sen, however, told reporters that strict action would be taken against the accused after the probe.
