A day after prohibitory orders were lifted in East Delhi's clash-hit Trilokpuri area, a 25-year-old man was allegedly bludgeoned to death by two men in the same area here today.
The accused allegedly disfigured the victim's head with a big stone in order to hide his identity. The man could be identified only through a tattoo on his arm as one Bunty who lived in block 24.
"The incident took place around 5 AM after police got a call that a youth has been murdered in Trilokpuri. When a police team reached the spot, which was in a drain, it found a dead body with a huge stone lying beside it," said a police official.
Eyewitnesses told police that they had heard the youth pleading to the two attackers to spare his life and that he would return the money to them around 4:30 AM. Nobody came forward to help and the screams finally died down following which a woman identified as Shivani discovered the body lying in a drain and called police.
The body was then taken to Lal Bahadur Shashtri Hospital and forensic teams picked up circumstantial evidence from the spot.
Bunty's mother identified the body as his son through the photographs shown to her at Mayur Vihar police station.

Police have registered a case of murder at Mayur Vihar police station and the call records of Bunty's mobile phone are being scanned to identify the attackers. No arrest has been made so far, police said.
Trilokpuri had been on the boil since Diwali night after a drunken brawl between youths turned into a full-blown clash between two communities. Police had imposed prohibitory orders in the area which were lifted only yesterday.
