Northeast Frontier Railway Friday said 26 minor boys and girls were rescued from different trains and stations in the region during the last fortnight.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) have rescued these children from the railway premises and handed them over to their parents and guardians.
NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Pranav Jyoti Sharma said RPF has rescued the 26 minor boys and girls from stations and trains during the period from October 15 to 30, 2018.
"The RPF has been successfully rescuing run away child as well as child from the clutch traffickers regularly. During current year up to October, RPF has rescued nearly 700 children from railway premises as well as from running trains," he said in a statement.
The RPF has also arrested 17 traffickers during this period and actions were taken as per rule, Sharma said.
In one such incident on October 22, RPF personnel rescued two minor boys and one girl from the 15960 Kamrup Express when they were detected travelling without any guardian.

"As such, they were first detrained from the train and later their parents were informed over phone. Later on, the rescued boys and girl were handed over to Sachin Tanti after taking consent of their parents," the CPRO informed.
In a similar case on October 15, the RPF successfully rescued two runaway minor girls from the Goalpara Town railway station and later they were handed over to their parents after proper identification, he added.
