28-yr-old woman shot dead

A 28-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead today when she was seeing off her friend outside her house in Rajendra Nagar Sector-2 here, the police said.
Rama Chakravarti alias Riya from Uttarakhand's Rudrapur district suffered two bullet injuries. She died on the spot, they said.
The woman was married in 2011 to Jagpravesh Pawar, a resident of Delhi's Jyoti Nagar. In 2015, her husband allegedly committed suicide, SHO of Sahibabad Police Station Jitender Singh said.
She left her seven-year-old daughter with her father-in- law and rented a house here, he said.
Investigations have revealed that the woman worked at a call centre in Noida and the incident occurred when she was seeing off a friend, the SHO said.

A youth reached the spot and shot at her, and fled with his accomplice on a motorcycle. Her friend also left after the incident, he said.
The police is scanning CCTV footage. A case has been registered on the basis of a complainant by the woman's father-in-law, the officer said.
