A second salon worker has been charged with murder after a Dallas woman died from illegal silicone injections to expand her buttocks.
Denise Rochelle Ross, 43, was held today on USD 45,000 bond, according to Dallas County court records.
Wykesha Reid's February death was ruled a homicide earlier this week. The cause of death was pulmonary silicone embolization, or blockage of a lung artery from a substance that's traveled through the bloodstream; it's associated with cosmetic silicone injections in the buttocks.
Both Ross and Jimmy Joe Clarke, who was charged Tuesday with murder, initially were charged with practicing medicine without a license and freed on bond, according to court records. Clarke remains free on bond.
Ross and Clarke illegally injected Reid with silicone on February 18, an arrest affidavit says. Clarke said Reid later returned to the salon "and said she was not feeling well and wanted to lay down," according to the affidavit.
Clarke allowed Reid into the salon, and later left the business, locking the doors and leaving Reid inside for the night.
The next morning Clarke called emergency services to say he arrived at the salon, found Reid deceased and he did not know what happened to her. Detectives found Reid, who'd bled, on a massage table, the affidavit said. Her vehicle was parked outside of the salon.
Attorneys for both defendants did not immediately return messages today.
