"Acting on a tip-off, that the accused would arrive at a CNG pump along Tahirpur Road in Shahdara, a trap was laid on March 6 and they were arrested," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara district), Nupur Prasad, said.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that they were involved in several such thefts, the officer claimed and said 36 music systems and four amplifiers have been seized from them.
"The accused used to pretend as ragpickers, hire a rehri (cart) and wander at various parts of Delhi. They used to break into a vehicle late in the night, steal the music system and hide it under a pile of garbage," Prasad said.
