Three persons, arrested by CBI in the case related to alleged illegal telephone exchange set up at the residence of then Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran, were today remanded to judicial custody till February 4 by a special court.
Additional Judge dealing with Special Court for CBI cases J Krishnamoorthy remanded the three -- V Gowthaman, former additional private secretary of Maran, Chief Technical Officer S Kannan and electrcian L S Ravi of Sun TV network when they were produced before him.
CBI filed a petition seeking five days custody of the three persons, arrested last night. The petition would be taken up tomorrow.
CBI has named Maran and BSNL officials, including the then Chief General Manager K Bramhanathan and MP Veluswami in the FIR filed in October 2013 following a preliminary inquiry in which the agency claimed to have found enough material to proceed with a regular case against the former minister.
The agency has alleged more than 300 high-speed telephone lines provided to Maran's residence were extended to his brother's SUN TV channel to enable its uplinking, a charge denied by Maran.
