Three people, including a couple, were arrested here today on charges of human trafficking of a woman, police said.
Accused Bablu Chaape (35), his wife Vandhana (28) and Kamlesh Sharma (45) allegedly abducted a married woman from Nehru Nagar locality about four years ago.
Later, they sold her to Kailesh Jat (35) of Nagaur district in Rajasthan for Rs 50,000, MIG police station inspector Arvind Singh Tomar said.
Jat tortured the woman physically and mentally, he said.
Escaping from Jat's clutches after four years, she returned here recently and narrated her ordeal to police, which launched action in the case, the police official said.
He said Jat and an unidentified woman, who played a major part in selling off the married woman as a bride, are absconding.
Police suspect that a big human trafficking gang is involved in the case.
