3 children dead, 24 injured after falling into well in UP

Three children were killed and at least 24 persons injured after the lid of an old well, on which they were standing, collapsed under pressure in Iglaas area here, police said today.
Shyam Kaushik (5), Harvira (11) and Rekha (10) died after falling into the boring during "kuan pujan" (Well-worship) ceremony performed at a marriage function in Padheel village last evening, police said.
A number of guests climbed on the cemented-cover of the well during the function which failed to take pressure and all 27 persons fell into it, police said.
24 persons were injured in the incident and were admitted to different hospitals.

The condition of at least six persons was stated to be critical, they said.
